ESCAPE
Description
A spooky castle with skeletons in the dungeons. You have been incarcerated here for a few years after unsuccessfully attempting to storm the place on your own (a foolish thing to do). Still, your superiors think you might have useful information (if you're still alive), so they send in a real marine to bail you out. Unfortunately, your guard is a tough nut and manages to blend the marine's brains with the wallpaper before himself buying the farm. Pity, you'll never finish that game of halma. With his dying breath the marine croaks something about a secret passage and a teleporter waiting for you out in the woods, so you set off, wondering who in Hell designed this amazing place. You wish you had more time to hang around. The file is ESCAPE.WAD and is a level E1M3, i.e. episode 1 mission 3. It supports 2 modes: killing mode (ultra violence only), and strolling around whistling and giving it all the architect's once-over (all other settings). It is not particularly suitable for deathmatch, I don't think, because it's fairly linear. There are no keys or any of that unrealistic stuff which is for RPG wimps .

Description : A spooky castle with skeletons in the dungeons. You
have been incarcerated here for a few years after
unsuccessfully attempting to storm the place on your
own (a foolish thing to do). Still, your superiors

you out. Unfortunately, your guard is a tough nut

Instructions : Put ESCAPE.WAD in your DOOM directory, type
"doom -file escape.wad" and start a new game,
choosing a skill level (Ultra Violence = monsters
and carnage, all other skill levels = love and
peace, you can wear your sandals).
Then type "idclev13" and off you go!

Misc. Author Info : Double major in Electrical Engineering

...yet I still had time to do this.
Description : This wad is not for the Doom Newbie.
                          Sizing out at 360k, I'd recommend a 486
and 8 megs and a fast video card to play
                          it.

* Construction *

Base : New level from scratch
Build Time : One hell of a long time
Editor(s) used : Deu5.1, Deu5.2, Deu5.2gcc, BSP1.1x for nodes
Known Bugs : There are a few slowdowns due to massive #'s
of two sided linedefs in several rooms (including
the starting room, but how else can I get the
floor to look cool?) Some players may find this
impossible, but it's very playable. The sections
of the game are rather delineated, so there are a
                          few good save points.

If you enjoyed this wad, please at least send me e-mail saying so. I've
put well over a hundred hours into this level (so far) so if you really like
it, please consider sending me real mail, or even money (hey... I'm a broke
college student - you can spare a few bucks for a huge wad like this!)
to the following address (it'll get forwarded to me, wherever I am):

Mark Spaeth
23834 Oak Lane
North Olmsted, Ohio 44070-2841

If I get a decent response, I'll be making more wads. Possible scenarios
are certain buildings on the OSU campus and the IBM facility in Charlotte
NC.
