An excellent (however large) deathmatch level (3-4 player net games work best.)
========================================================================= Title : AARDVARK Author : Andrew Wallmeyer Email Address : <email removed> (Matt Thueson) Description : An excellent (however large) deathmatch level (3-4 player net games work best.) Additional Credits to : Matt Thueson, for a good start, many good ideas, and assistance with play-testing. ========================================================================= * Play Information * Episode and Level # : 01 Single Player : Yes (Useless) Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes (Useless) Deathmatch 2-4 Player : OH YES! Difficulty Settings : No New Sounds : New Music New Graphics : No Demos Replaced : None When creating this level, we used to some extent a theme of water (or blood and slime as the case may be.) You will see that the river of water encircles the outside portion of the level, a lake of blood comes up to meet you as you enter the underground portion of the level, and a slime river flows through much of the north and west sides of the level. There is even a slime fountain on the east side which we think looks very cool. We have tried to spread the weapons out evenly in this level and prevent cramming all of the good stuff only in hidden areas. Due to the size of this level, in two-player games you may find that you arehaving difficulty the other player. We suggest that in this case the two players should agree on areas of the level not to be used. One trick we use to locate the other players is to monitor the map, lifts will disappear and reappear as they are used. This allows a player to occasionally see where another player is. We feel that this does not spoil the play, as it is infrequent and looking at the map constantly is a quick way to die. The music used in this level is titled "Mars, the Bringer of War", it is the first movement of "The Planets" by Gustav Holst. (The Planets is a god-like piece and should be worshipped accordingly.) We have enjoyed the construction and (especially) the play testing of this level, and we hope you will too. Updates to this level and new levels can be found at: http://www.primenet.com/~tjack/mthues/levels.html * Construction * Base : New level from scratch. Build Time : Too long (we're talkin' months here!) Editor(s) used : DME 4.1 Beta, Idbsp v1.02, Wadmaster DEU v5.21 Known Bugs : none * Copyright / Permissions * You may use this file and distribute it freely. However, you may NOT modify this level in any way or use it as a base for another level. * Final Note * Aardvark has nothing at all to do with this level. We just wanted it to be at the top of the alphabet and thought the word "Aardvark" sounded funky.
