This WAD contains modified sprites and flats and thus cannot be run
only with the -file parameter.

To run this WAD, you need a resource handling program like NWT
(included in the ZIP file).

Copy all files into your DOOM directory. You now have two choices:

(1) Use the NWT merge function to temporarily resequence your IWAD
    directory. To do this, type BASILIC1 at the dos prompt

    If DOOM, for any reason, ever locks up or you do not exit the
    program normally, you may have to restore your IWAD manually.
    To do this, type NWT -RESTORE at the dos prompt.

(2)  Use NWT to append all sprites and flats to your PWAD. To do
     this, type BASILIC2 at the dos prompt ONLY ONCE EVER. 
     Note that the resulting WAD will be about 3.5 megs in size.
     Whenever you want to play, type BASILIC3.

Basilica contains a demo recorded in Version 1.9. If you do not
have Version 1.9, you must delete the text "basdemo.wad" from 
whichever batch file you are using.

You need Doom version 1.666 or higher to play this WAD.
* A note on difficulty settings *

Some tough doomers have told me that the level isn't hard
enough on Hurt Me Plenty. Accordingly, experienced doomers are
advised to play on the Ultra Violence setting. Although there
are no additional monsters (mostly due to the SaveGame buffer
limits), the extra damage will make you work a little harder.

* Corrective Release Info *

This version is the November 1997 corrective release.

The only major change was that the ss/ff protocols were added
so that the wad will now work with DeuSF and Mac inflators.
Thanks to Bernard Devaux for his help tracking this problem 

I also fixed a few minor texture problems and killed a medi-kit 
that wasn't supposed to be there while I was at it.

Known Bugs              : Slight HOM from the very southwest corner of
                          the map (but why would you ever go there?)
                          I didn't notice this until today - and would
                          prefer not to try rebuilding the BSP at this
                          point (it was a bit of a headache last time).
* History of Construction *

This project, believe it or not, was done entirely on a 486/SX 25 MHz
relic of a machine (with the exception of the final map merge and the
reject build, which I had to borrow someone else's computer for),
using emulated floating point (no coprocessor!), emulated VESA
(no VESA card!), and only 4 megs of RAM.

With that in mind, I especially have to thank Robert Fenske Jr. for
incorporating a map-merging function into WARM. This allowed me to
do the level in three chunks, and then merge the finished products
and do the final touch-ups. The complete map took nearly ten seconds
to refresh after every vertex move and every scroll - it would have
been impossible to build such a huge level in one piece.

Also thanks to Anthony Burden for writing a map editor which was
low-level enough to work on my machine. DCK wouldn't run (didn't
like my VESA emulator), DEEP I couldn't even get running, and DEU
has those nasty custom texture bugs...

Authors MAY use this level as a base to build additional
levels provided you credit me with creating the original level and 
that you say the level you've made is a modified version of my 
original level. Particularly, feel free to make the level suitable
for co-op/deathmatch play or add more difficulty settings.

Original Artwork: You MAY extract my original artwork from this level
and use it for other levels. Please provide credit as appropriate.

Non-original Artwork + Score: Please obtain the permission of the
original authors before reusing.
