Miscellany              : Demos (v1.9) would be highly appreciated.
                          The first level also exists as a separate
                          wad, called D2esc11.wad.

WARNING!                : Demos 2 and 3 contain spoilers. Demo 1
                          doesn't but is screwed (i.e. not played
                          back properly).

Description             : This is a two wad combo, intended for solo
                          and co-operative play. New graphics, new
                          sounds, new music. In the theme I have
                          tried to combine the settings of Doom
                          and Wolfenstein 3D (see Story, below).

Story                   : The Allied suspect that the Nazis
                          are developing a nightmarish army
                          of creatures that once were humans
                          but have now been biologically
                          twisted into inhuman abominities.
                          There have been rumors of mindless
                          cyborg soldiers equipped with
                          flame-throwers and worse things...
                          You, Captain Blackheart, were sent
                          to explore the hidden laboratory
                          of the mad Doctor Mangler, but
                          his inhuman servitors took you
                          by surprise.

                          MAP01: Escape from Castle H�llenstein
                          -------------------------------------
                                You have been captured
                          and taken to the infamous Castle
                          H�llenstein where torture awaits
                          you - - - maybe you will even
                          become one of Mangler's inhuman
                          troopers yourself. Unless you
                          escape. You defeated the nazi
                          trooper that had come to bring
                          you some water with your bare
                          fists, and you have got his
                          handgun, but now are locked up
                          in the prison cell again... and
                          there is no way out except the
                          locked door... no secret doors
                          or anything. What next? If you
                          fail to escape and continue your
                          mission, Dr. Mangler's fiendish
                          troops will surely kick some Allied
                          ass for good!

                          MAP02: Assault on Loge's Hall
                          -----------------------------
                                The Allied have finally
                          discovered that the source of the
                          Nazis' strength is an extraplanar
                          demonic entity who was worshipped
                          by the ancient Teutons as the
                          fire-god Loge. Now the Nazis have
                          revived the ancient Teutonic pagan
                          religion and allied themselves
                          with this reputedly immortal being
                          of superhuman might.
                                You must enter Loge's home
                          dimension, the mystic realm of
                          Teutonic myth - and combat Loge
                          in his own Hall. But how can you
                          kill a seemingly immortal being?
                          But you have to! Otherwise the
                          Allied will be obliterated, while
                          you... you will become the next
                          meal in Loge's feast hall.

Additional Credits to   : All the usual folks. To me, because nobody
                          else is giving me any credit anyway. Naah,
                          just kidding :->

* Play Information *

Episode and Level #     : Doom2  Map01 and Map02
Single Player           : Yes, but it's pretty damn hard!
                          MAP01 is a "tricks and traps" level where
                          you can NEVER be sure that you have finally
                          made an area "safe". This level may frustrate
                          players who just want to kill everything and
                          hate unfair ambushes that come one after
                          another.
                          MAP02 offers more traditional mindless massacre.
                          That is not to say it is easy.
                          BOTH Maps are challenging, especially with
                          single player and UV.
Cooperative 2-4 Player  : Yes, has a few more monsters and weapons,
                          and one player starts OUTSIDE the locked cells
                          in MAP01
Deathmatch 2-4 Player   : Deathmatch starting points are there, but
                          the map has not been optimized for DM playing.
                          Plays better in Co-op mode.
Difficulty Settings     : More monsters for tougher difficulty levels.
                          Has been completed on UV, although it isn't
                          easy in Single player mode.
New Sounds              : Yes! Nazi exclamations in MAP01.
New Graphics            : New wall graphics in MAP02 (most importantly
                          the woods)
New Music               : Piano transcriptions (from the classical MIDI
                          archives) of
                          MAP01: Richard Wagner: Walk�renritt
                          MAP02: Richard Wagner: Magic Fire Music
                                                 (If you know the
                                                 opera you should know
                                                 why I picked this piece
                                                 for MAP02)
                          (guaranteed to work with Adlib music. Time
                          to sell your crappy Wave Canvas :-)
                          (NO! Better yet, buy me an Audio Canvas and
                          I'll make an Audio Canvas version for you,
                          for free of course :) :) :)
Demos Replaced          : All. Although my demos are not very good (if
                          some kind soul would only send a nice v1.9
                          demo...)
                          DEMO1: No spoilers. But the demo is screwed and
                          does not playback properly. I get killed far too
                          soon and for the most part lie dead on the ground.
                          However, if you want to see the other two (better,
                          spoiler-filled) demos, you have to watch this one
                          until the end.
                          DEMO2: Spoilers and secrets galore for MAP01.
                          DEMO3: Very short. Shows how to open to main
                          doorway to Loge's Hall.

Base                    : New levels from scratch
Editor(s) used          : DETH (various versions), DEUTEX (ditto).
                                Also various graphics and
                                paint programs, VOC2WAV.EXE, plus
                                Voice Edit 2.0 (it sucks! But it's the best
                                I have :< ), Sequencer Plus Pro, MIDI2MUS
Known Bugs              : One ultraminor bug found, fixed already

        MAP01 (H�llenstein)
        -To get out of the cell you have to catch the guards' attention
         somehow. Or watch DEMO2 to see how this is done.
         NEVER get locked up in a prison cell again! Or you'll
         stay there.
        -If you simply cannot survive the room just before the exit,
         look for a secret nearby. It has an invulnerability. You must
         hate Hitler to reach it. 

        MAP02 (Loge's Hall)
        -Do not think Loge is   an easy kill! Ever played Nethack? Loge is
        actually just like the WoY: "So thou thought thou couldst kill me,
        fool!"

     Doom and Doom2 are of course trademarks of id Software. If you are         
     playing an illegal copy, watch out! I've heard a rumor that there          
     is - not a virus - but a curse in a pirated copy of Doom2. It makes        
     you always lose your deathmatches to anybody who has bought a legal        
     version. Even if you later get a legal version.
